one flute, one dragon, one string, and four oceans dancing
Over the past year or so, I think we are beginning to see the division of the world come to the surface. The division between despotic and democratic nations, and the radicalization of Asians in the wake of the Corona disaster are easy examples of this. In Japan, too, at the beginning of the Corona disaster, there was a small division in Japan due to the harassment of license plates from other prefectures. In such a society, it was necessary to look at the foundation of Japanese beauty when considering what those of us in the arts could offer to society. The foundation of Japanese beauty. It is what some thinkers and critics use to call the “spirit (mind) of harmony. The essence of the spiritual culture of the Japanese people is not an emphasis on individual autonomy, but a spiritual culture that emphasizes group order and tranquility, courtesy and manners. The “Garden of Four Seas of Shokaido” at Myokenji Temple, the setting for this event, is meant to save people by guiding the four seas, meaning the world, to the teachings of the Lotus Sutra. It is difficult to unite a divided world, but we hope to propose a moment that will bring a certain order and peace to those who come to see the performance.
